Gordon was the Founder of Chong Partners Architecture, a 200 person, international practice that specialized in health care design and research. Along with Kaiser and the University of California, Berkeley, he was awarded the Latrobe Prize for Research from the College of Fellows of The American Institute of Architects. Utilizing the findings of this research Gordon co-authored a book entitled “Design Informed; Driving Innovation with Evidenced Based Design “ that was published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
In addition to serving as National President of The American Institute of Architects, Gordon also served as President of ANFA.
Architects have historically utilized a design and research process that explores new building systems, technologies and materials as necessary to address functional, engineering, construction and sustainability performance.
With the collaboration of neuroscientists and ANFA, the new frontier for architects is to engage in design and research processes that potentially inform human behavior and performance by blending intuition and empirical knowledge.
