George is a trained cognitive neuroscientist with extensive research experience in examining neurobehavioral accounts of human cognition and decision making.A series of studies identified the neural correlates underlying decision making under risk and risk attitudes (PNAS, 2009; Journal of Neuroscience, 2009, 2010). Recent studies have explored the social and cultural aspects of human behaviour employing novel computational approaches (Oxford Handbook of Culture Neuroscience 2015, Nature Neuroscience, 2015, Neuroimage 2015).
I would like to enrich ANFA’s portfolio by (i) enriching the methodological toolbox (from neuroscience and metabolomics to thermal comfort and virtual reality); and (ii) enhancing the global and culturally sensitive face of ANFA – especially with a focus on East and South East Asia and the MegaCities in this area.
We also want to solve practical problems. I represent an interdisciplinary team examining (thanks to a generous multi-million dollars program) a very critical problem for Mega-Cities thirsty for space: the human-centric development of underground / indoor office spaces. We employ an interdisciplinary approach combining neuroscience, psychology, engineering, sociology and health measurements in one unified study. Amongst other methods, we examine or employ

- sleep quality
- computerized psychometric approaches
- field and experimental studies
- sociological approaches and case studies
- obesity, cardiovascular risk and other standard health parameters,
- thermal comfort and light manipulation
- attitudinal metrics etc.
We have developed a validated Virtual Reality system that allows systematic testing of architectural parameters (see publications).
